Carlos Luna James aka MGOGLTKO (b. 1979, Juarez, Chih. Mx) is a designer and a multimedia artist whose works explores the perception between the virtual and physical space through art, consciousness, and technology with the means of sculpture, video projection, animation, and sound design. The central axis of Carlos’ aesthetic is the folklore of his native Mexico, notably influenced by its abstracted forms and pop symbols.
Interested in the realms of reality and simulations, fascinated by states of consciousness such as dreaming, trance, hypnosis, creativity and psychedelic drugs, Carlos uses these transcendental experiences as an inspiration for his work. In it, he explores this idea by blending the virtual and the physical world.
MGOGLKTKO is a byproduct of the technological age and the mysteries that comes with it. As a result he explores ways to create art utilizing technology as an instrument to create sculpture, large-scale digital and mixed media installation, combining custom seamless animation and sound design into projection mapping and video installations. His evocative fusion of acid characters, introspective narratives, and sophisticated environments to create uniquely immersive experience.
His creative process combines of architectural precision, artistic innovation, and craftsmanship. Incorporates, screens, projectors, laser cutting and 3D print. Some of the sculptures are embedded on screens, while others are projected and mapped in sculptural space with sound design.
